MARIA STEIN – Maria Stein Shrine’s Director of Fund Development said Camp Kazoo was “ a great success in Celina last year and we tried to get this off the ground in Maria Stein, but we realized that we needed to start sooner on reaching out to the people. We are hoping to reach out to students before the school year ends.” And so she is reaching out to the community earlier this year about Camp Kazoo, a program for kids that will take place at the Shrine starting May 30 and runs through June 2.

Celina High School sophomores Grace McGohan, McKenna Black and Hope Ebbing created Camp Kazoo, which will also debut in June at Celina’s Eastview Park.

Applications are being accepted until May 15.

According to Grace McGohan, “This is our second year of camp, but our first year making an appearance in Maria Stein. We are very excited about it and hope to get the word out so all can participate. Camp Kazoo is an old fashioned, fun for all, summer camp for any kids that are going into 1st-6th grade. It is open to kids from all areas.

The first camp is going to be located at the Maria Stein Shrine from 9 a.m. - noon on May 30-June 2  for 1st-6th graders. The following week, June 5th-9th, Camp Kazoo will be held at Eastview Park in Celina.

“We do all sorts of activities at camp so there is tons of fun for each camper,” she said.“Camp Kazoo is run by high school counselors who are very excited to spend a week with our amazing campers,” she said. “The camp atmosphere is upbeat and inclusive to anyone who would like to sign up. We do arts and crafts, Gaga, kick-ball, relay races, messy projects, scavenger hunts, team building games, and much more. Also, we provide daily snacks.”

Registration will begin March 6. Registration forms will be available at the Celina Parks & Rec Office, and on the Camp Kazoo Facebook page.
