Cold Temperatures Closing Minster's Recycling Center on Saturday

Staff Writer

With record-low temperatures hitting the area, the village of MInster has decided to keep the recycling center closed on Saturday, Jan. 6.

"The temperatures are too cold to have volunteers outside for two hours," the village's website stated. " You are welcome to look into other recycling centers to see if they will take your items.  Our apologies for the inconvenience this cold weather is causing, but we are hoping for a warmer Saturday on January 13."

The recycling center is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is run by volunteers from around the community.

Help keep the center running  smoothly by following a few simple guidelines when dropping off your recyclables:

  • Rinse out bottles, tin cans, and milk jugs
  • No lids or caps accepted
  • Separate  glass, plastic and aluminum cans
  • Many of the yogurt cups cannot be accepted.  If you are unsure, check the number on the bottom of the yogurt container.  It cannot be a  No. 4 or  No. 6 container.
  • Break down your cardboard and remove staples, etc.  Drop off only during regular hours.  The cardboard trailer needs to be stacked properly for the county to take it.
