The Minster girls basketball team hoisted the district title trophy after pulling away from Upper Scioto Valley 73-52 on Saturday night. The Wildcats will now move on to play Russia on Thursday in a district semifinal at Vandalia Butler High School at 8 p.m.

"You can see the energy this group brings, the fun they have and I'm proud of them to be advancing to the Sweet 16," Minster head coach Mike Wiss said.

The Wildcats used a balanced scoring attack to pull away in the second half after they attacked the basket and got lay-up after lay-up against USV's gambling defense. Taylor Kogge scored 22 points for Minster on 10-of-14 shooting. Courtney Prenger and Hayley Baumer each added 15 points. Ali Borgerding had 10 points as Minster shot 56 percent from the floor.

Emily Patton scored 24 points for Upper Scioto Valley, but Minster held the Rams’ prolific scorer in check. Patton was just 1-of-6 from 3-point range and 9-of-19 from the floor.
