Girls Basketball

  • Minster 53, Marion Local 16 — The Minster girls basketball team broke out of a small funk to deliver a resounding 53-16 win over Marion Local on Thursday night. After suffering back-to-back road losses to Versailles and Anna last week to tumble from the top spot in Division IV, Minster returned home and took care of business to improve to 15-3 on the season and 6-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.
  • Coldwater 45, New Bremen 34 — Coldwater won this battle of quality MAC squads which have combined for 29 wins this season. Jane Homan led New Bremen with 13 points and seven rebounds. Kelly Naylor had six points and six assists. Paige Jones grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
  • Versailles 48, New Knoxville 32 — Versailles clinched at least a piece of the Midwest Athletic Conference title with their eighth MAC win of the season. Versailles has one MAC game against St. Henry next Thursday. A win would clinch the outright crown.

  • Fort Loramie 65, Houston 35 — Fort Loramie showed just how balanced its scoring attack can be in securing at least a share of the Shelby County League title. Marissa Meiring led the way with 13 points, 13 rebounds and four steals. Abby Holthaus added 11 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists. Kenzie Hoelscher  added 10 points while KennediGephart and Taylor Ratermann each scored nine points. Fort Loramie has a two-game lead in the Shelby County Athletic League standings with a 10-0 record. Russia is 8-2. Fort Loramie has two SCAL games left on the schedule with a home game against Jackson Center on Saturday and a trip to Russia on Thursday, Feb. 8.
