Get Into Scouting at Sept. 14 Events Around Auglaize, Mercer Counties

Scouting wants you! Now is the time to join the fun and excitement of America’s foremost youth program. A sign-up night will be held on Thursday, September 14, at locations throughout Auglaize, Mercer and Van Wert counties.

Cub Scouting is for youth in the first through fifth grades. The program combines outdoor activities, sports, academics, and more in a fun and exciting program that helps families teach ideals such as honesty, good citizenship, and respect.

Cub Scout sign-up nights are scheduled at the following locations on Thursday, September 14, at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

— St. Marys: September 14, High St. Shelter House, 5 p.m.
— Minster: September 14, Four Seasons Park, 7 p.m.
— New Bremen: Sept. 14 and Sept. 26, St. Paul UCC, 7 p.m.
— Wapak: First UMC September 16, 1-3 p.m., September 14, 6 p.m., St. Paul UCC, September 17, 6 p.m. St. Joe’s School.
— Coldwater: Holy Trinity, September 18, 7 p.m.
— St. Henry: American Legion, September 7, evening
— Van Wert: First Presbyterian Church, September 11, 6 p.m.

At the sign-up night, boys will have an opportunity to meet other Scouts and receive a free Rocket which they will launch during the “Rocket into Scouting, Deliver the Promise” event. The rocket launch will be held on Saturday, September 30, at Camp Berry, 9 a.m.-noon, or Saturday, October 21, at Camp Lakota from 9 a.m.-noon.
