Heavy Rains Lead to High Water in Minster on Tuesday

Staff Writer

Inundated by rain and snow over the past week, Minster experienced high water issues on Tuesday, April 3, village administrator Don Harrod said at that night’s village council meeting.

“We’ve had a lot of water today,” Harrod said on Tuesday. “The canal is over the banks in a couple spots. We have some water on Seventh Street by Line Drive and the park that went across the road. There’s also some on Cleveland Street across from Minster Machine parking lot. A few people have called about water in basements. We’re trying to figure out where it’s coming from. Hopefully we won’t get much more rain and it will all go down.”

A map from the  National Weather Service showed as of 8 p.m. on Tuesday that the area had received between two and three inches of rain in the previous 24 hours to add to the already saturated ground from rainfall and last weekend's snow.

Another NWS map of the last 30 days shows the area has received between five and seven inches of precipitation.
