Minster Marching Band Will Present Karaoke Faves in 2017 Shows

Staff Writer

The seniors in Minster’s Marching Band say their favorite song to perform this year is Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s “Downtown.” For anyone old enough to remember, this should not be confused with the version once sung by Petula Clark.

Ah yes, time keeps marching but the marching band does as well and was working on its performances for this fall at this past week’s band camp. Band Director Jennifer Beair makes certain of that.

“Our theme for the season is Karaoke and it will be divided into two sections.” Old karaoke favorites like “Sweet Caroline” will be in the first part and newer contemporary tunes like the aforementioned “Downtown” in the second. Beair said the music choices will invite those hearing them to be able sing along karaoke-style.

Of the 120-member 2017 edition of the Minster High School Marching Band, 30 are seniors. The horns, particularly, sound very strong and are capable of producing a wall of sound.

Beair says the band will again appear in the upcoming New Bremenfest parade —  and then, of course, football season.

Members of the Band again celebrated the end of their week of band camp with water – to cool off from a week spent working. Water balloons, were the order of the day.

The Wildcat Marching Band appears to be in good spirit as well as sounding strong – ready to march into another season – and you can sing along.
