Minster is a town on the move. The high school state championships in track and cross country and the sight of its residents constantly running around town are proof of it.

So, naturally, on the weekend of Minster’s largest celebration of the year, there’s a running event.

Since 1979, thousands  flock each year to the Oktoberfest Classic 10k. Now in its 39th year, Minster’s  is one  of Ohio’s premier running events.  The Oktoberfest 10k is the one of the three legs in the Mid West Ohio 10k Triple Crown, which features the Strawberryfest in Troy and the Run to the Moon in Wapakoneta.

The race begins on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m.

New this year is all participants receiving a finisher’s medal. Race day registrations are $25 with no t-shirt.

There’s prize money to the top and male female runners, with first place taking $400, second taking $300 and third place winning $200. $100 goes to the first male and female master’s runners, grand master’s runners, top county runners and triple crown runners.
