Radio Control Hydroplanes in Mercer County This Weekend

More than 150 radio control hydroplanes reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour are expected to race in Celina on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23 in a racing event that's turning 25 years old this year.

More than 70 teams with 150 boats will race in 12 classes on Celina's Eastview Park Pond behind the Wal-Mart complex near State Route 29The free entertainment beings at 8 a.m. on both days. Heat racing continues until 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
This event is sanctioned by the International Model Power Boat Association and will attract teams from across the United States and Canada.
Admission is free. Food and beverages are available.
