Safety, leadership skills focus of Auglaize 4-H Shooting Club

MINSTER – Jason Barhorst has been involved in Auglaize County’s 4H Shooting Sports Club since 1996 when the program was started and lead instructor the past seven. He was the featured speaker at last Wednesday’s Minster Service Club meeting.
“We try to teach leadership skills and, number one, safety – when they go out hunting, when they go fishing. We try to promote the outdoors to them.
“And we also have living history projects, which, this year, we don’t have anyone to instruct this. We are always looking for volunteers, because it’s always hard to find volunteers.
“Last year we had around 53 children from our county.” The group meets at Western Ohio Fish & Game in St. Marys. Meetings are every other Monday when schools let out and they run about 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
